Job Title: Import and Export Compliance Manager

Tyco Thermal Controls has an exciting opportunity for an Import and Export Compliance Manager covering the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring that the company is informed about and compliant with all import and export control regulations and supervising export and import staff/activities over all of the TTC facilities in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. The Import and Export Compliance Manager will implement the company’s international trade compliance policies, and will coordinate goals and activities with business leaders and corporate trade compliance personnel.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Making commodity jurisdiction determinations and product/technical data/software/defense service classifications.
- Drafting/submitting commodity jurisdiction and classification requests, license applications, TAAs and MLAs, utilizing license exceptions, and completing compliant export /shipping documents.
- Determining proper tariff classifications, valuation, and country of origin/marking of imported merchandise, as well as evaluating tariff preference program and free trade status of the same, for example, Chapter 98, NAFTA, and other free trade agreements.
- Drafting/implementing export and import compliance procedures (including cross functional processes).
- Training/liaising with departments/personnel that directly/indirectly impact export and import compliance.
- Conducting periodic export and import self assessments (compliance audits) and implementing any necessary corrective actions.
- Managing export and import records, including developing/implementing a record retention program.
- Developing/implementing automated tools and processes, including establishing comprehensive product classification matrices for exports and imports.
- Issuing customs broker and freight forwarder powers of attorney, as well as conducting pre/post export and import compliance reviews and managing customs brokers/freight forwarders to ensure that export and import documentation is completed properly on a consistent basis.
- Preparing/filing SILs, PEAs and reconciliation entries.
- Travel within the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- College degree
- Minimum 5 years of export/import experience in trade compliance.
- Candidate must possess extensive knowledge in the following areas: ITAR, Commerce Department, and OFAC export control regulations; U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations; C-TPAT and other CBP security initiatives.
- Customs broker license, a plus.
