TRADE COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Location is in the Southeastern U.S.
Job Description/Responsibilities/Requirements - A global provider of electronic application specific components and sub-systems. It designs and manufactures specialized electronic and radio frequency products that connect, protect, and control critical systems for the wireless telecommunications, aerospace, defense, space, and medical markets. Consists of four Technology Groups: Connectors, Microwave Components, Microwave Sub-systems, and Protection. It employs over 3,000 associates worldwide, and operates in over 20 locations around the globe The client has an exciting opportunity for a Global Trade Compliance Manager to oversee the company’s global import and export compliance. Location is in the Southeastern US.
Scope of Responsibilities - Responsible for overseeing ’s global import and export compliance (including the application of US export controls abroad), including driving compliance at the local level. The Global Trade Compliance Manager will implement Group (corporate) international trade compliance policies and procedures, and will coordinate goals and activities with Interconnect business leaders, general counsel, and corporate trade compliance personnel.
Key Accountabilities
- Make U.S. export jurisdiction and classification determinations.
- Draft U.S. export licenses and agreements applications, as well as CJ, CAATS and Customs binding ruling requests/submissions.
- Serve as Empowered Official.
- Ensure that Product and Technology matrices are accurate, complete, and current.
- Confirm that adequate import and export compliance procedures are in place.
- Confirm proper tariff classification, valuation, and origin declarations/marking for imported merchandise; help identify duty-savings opportunities and processes to appropriately claim benefits.
- Train/liaise with departments/personnel that directly/indirectly impact trade compliance.
- Conduct periodic import and export self assessments (compliance audits) and track completion of corrective measures, if any.
- Serve as main point of contact in government or corporate audits.
- Oversee record retention program.
- Select/implement automated tools and processes for trade compliance.
- Help manage customs brokers and freight forwarders, e.g., powers of attorney, and communications, and confirm that import and export documentation is completed properly on a consistent basis.
- Perform global trade compliance risk analysis and develop plan for addressing.
- Recommend appropriate internal domestic and overseas staffing.
- Work with local US and foreign trade compliance officers to achieve goals.
- Report status of compliance activities to business leaders and General Counsel.
- Position will report to General Counsel and liaise with Corporate-wide Legal and Compliance Department on legal issues, including use of external counsel and third-party vendors.
Education/Experience
- College degree.
- Minimum of five years import/export experience.
- Knowledge of the ITAR, EAR, OFAC, ATF and CBP regulations.
- D-Trade, SNAP-R user knowledge.
- Global trade compliance; familiarity with import/export requirements of overseas jurisdictions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, customers and vendors. Possess strong organizational skills; big-picture oriented but able to delve into the details.
